Trestle Loop Trail Details
This scenic loop hike starts at the marked trailhead across from the campfire center in Mill Creek Campground, within Del Norte Coast State Park. It follows the right-of-way of a historic railroad. You'll meander along Mill Creek, pass through second-growth mixed forests of redwood, maple, alder, and spruce, and -- if you time it right -- get the chance to harvest berries on the way. (There is a berry limit of one gallon per person each day.) There are some steep grades on the loop. This is a great birding area, so look and listen during your hike! In the off-season, the Mill Creek Campground Road is closed, so you will need to park on Highway 101 to reach the Trestle Loop Trail.
