Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park Details
Prairie Creek Redwoods is one of the three state parks that help comprise Redwood National and State Park. The park was stablished by conservationists and the state of California in 1923 to protect this land from loggers. The park, centrally located just south of Klamath, Calif., has a visitor center, campground, trails, and picnic areas. The meadow adjacent to the information center and campground is a centerpiece of the park due to its population of Roosevelt elk. The park also has a nice collection of Civilian Conservation Corps buildings from the 1930s.
