Little Bald Hills Trail Details

The Little Bald Hills Trail is open to hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Beginning among the old-growth redwoods of Jedediah Smith State Park, this trails ascends through fir forests and tops out in a pine grove. It is 9.8 miles from one end to the other. From the trailhead on the east end of Howland Hill Road, you'll pass through fern-carpeted redwood groves before they fade into cedar and fir forests and, higher up, pine shrublands, and eventually prairies and fields. After 3.3 miles, you'll come to the Little Bald Hills backcountry campsite. At 4.8 miles you will leave the park, but the trail continues another 5 miles to an intersection with South Fork Road.
