Fishing Details

Fishing off the park's beaches and in its streams and rivers is very popular. You can cast for salmon and trout in the Smith and Klamath Rivers, but there is also limited trout fishing in Redwood Creek as well as along the 37 miles of park beaches. Regulations can vary widely on open seasons, daily bag limits, as the hours fishing is permitted depending on the species and time of year. All sport fishers must posses a valid California state fishing license. Contact the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for the most up-to-date regulations at 707-445-6493. Some of the most common areas to fish within the park include: Smith River: steelhead, Chinook salmon, cutthroat trout, and coho salmon.
