Hiking Details
There are around 150 miles of trails throughout Lassen National Park, with something for just about every age, skill, and fitness level. You can choose to summit Lassen Peak or Mt. Brokeoff, or take a leisurely stroll to one of the many lakes in the park. Note that winter snows or spring mud sometimes lead to trail closures, and these can persist late into the summer. Call 530-595-4480 for the most up-to-date information. When hiking in hydrothermal areas, be sure to stay on the designated path or boardwalk. Even though the ground may look solid, the soil can be thin, and underneath may lay acidic water that can cause a serious burn. Additionally, when hiking in the backcountry, tell someone your itinerary and make sure to carry bear spray and additional water.
