Butte Lake Details
There are no motor boats allowed in Lassen's lakes, and Butte Lake is no exception. Kayaking and canoeing, however, is permitted and because Butte Lake is a little harder to get to, you can almost guarantee paddling in serenity and peace. Sunrise views of nearby Prospect Peak are worth an early wakeup: Butte Lake also has a campground situated at its shores, so no need to drive further. Access to Butte Lake is via an extremely bumpy access road: no trailers are allowed, so the size of your boat is limited to what you can fit on top of your car. Facilities around the lake include a boat launch, a self-pay station (for those looking to camp), a camp host, ranger station, picnic tables, and food storage lockers. Boat rentals are not available at Butte Lake, but are available at the Manzanita Camper Store near the southwest entrance.
