Winona Mill Site Details
The Winona Mill site on the west end of Cottonwood Mountains is accessible via the Mastodon Loop Trail, which begins as the Lost Palms Oasis Trail in the Cottonwood Springs Oasis area. Exact dates of operation are unknown, but the mill probably operated from the mid-1930s to mid-1940s. Operated by the Hulsey family in conjunction with the development of nearby Mastodon Mine, the site was selected because it is one of only two springs between Mecca and Dale and water is critical in the mining of ore. Visitors can check out the concrete foundations that supported the mill's machinery.
