In the Black Rock Canyon region of Joshua Tree, Eureka Peak is the park's fourth tallest mountain at 5,518 feet. For those who wish to see the summit, Upper Covington Flat Road joins with Eureka Peak Road, an unpaved dirt road, which travels 3.8 miles one way from Covington Flats picnic area. The steep road is accessible only via 4-wheel-drive vehicles. There's also a network of trails, including Eureka Peak Trail, for those who wish to hike in.
