Berdoo Canyon Road Details
Perfect for both mountain biking and off-the-beaten-track exploring, the park's network of unpaved backcountry roads traverses most areas of the park. Berdoo Canyon Road connects the south end of Geology Tour Road with Dillon Road, and requires 4WD vehicles with high clearance to navigate. Although the first two miles of the road are paved, the rest of the road, which winds through its namesake canyon, does feature rough surface rocks. From end-to-end the road is 15.2 miles long, but exits the park after 11.5 miles. The last 3.9 miles wind past the ruins of the Berdoo Camp, established in the 1930s by the builders of the California Aqueduct. Bikes are welcome in Joshua Tree on any road open to vehicles, including backcountry roads.
