Hole in the Wall Road Details

Located in the center of Death Valley off Highway 190 (5.7 miles east of Furnace Creek Inn), Hole in the Wall Road is a gravel track that runs for six miles along a dry wash and thru a narrow, 400-foot-deep gap in a ridge that gives the road its name. It is popular with backcountry hikers and campers and drivers with 4WD vehicles. If you're driving, you'll need a high-clearance vehicle for the first four miles (to the Hole in the Wall gap), then 4WD the next two miles to the road's end due to deep gravel and rocks. Note: No camping is permitted on the first two miles of the road.
