Wreck Road Details
From Coastal Road, take a turn and head southwest on Wreck Road. From here, you may spot a stand of very rare Torrey pines, some of the only trees of their kind on the planet. Continue following the road to reach the beaches on the south side of the island, including Ford Point and Johnson's Lee; just know these hikes range from nine to 13.5 miles one-way. Keep in mind that day trips to Santa Rosa Island via Island Packers, the park-authorized concessionaire, are available only April through early November.
