Smuggler's Road Details

Smuggler's Road starts at Scorpion Anchorage and Beach, where you'll arrive when visiting Santa Cruz Island. After passing the island visitor center and restrooms, the road meanders south 3.75 miles, and is the route for the island's Smugglers Cove Trail. Smugglers often stopped on the island to hide and store their goods, hence the name Smugglers Cove and Smuggler's Road. If you're going to hike this route, note that the trail is strenuous, but you may spot wildflowers, birds and foxes along the way.
