Nature Conservancy Area Details
The Nature Conservancy owns and manages 76 percent of Santa Cruz Island. In partnership with the National Park Service, the two organizations preserve and protect the island's natural resources and rehabilitate of the island's historic buildings, as well. In addition, the Nature Conservancy has worked to restore the island's wetlands and the population of foxes and bald eagles. The western two-thirds of the island managed by the Nature Conservancy are largely off-limited to visitors.
