Montara State Beach Details

Just off State Route 1 north of Half Moon Bay, sits one of the cleanest beaches in the entire state of California. It is flanked by massive cliffs on either side and a roaring ocean in front. Its enormous waves are far too rough for swimming, although ideal for surfing or surf fishing. There are also several hiking and cycling trails that run along the coast, including the famous trail to the Devils Slide rock. The park is also home to Montara Mountain, the only peak in the Santa Cruz Mountains with an untouched coastal mountain habitat.
