This state beach is so big that it is actually comprised of four individual beaches Francis, Venice, Dunes, and Roosevelt. Each one offers different activities and landscapes, so make sure you allow enough time to see them all. Francis Beach on the southern end of the park is a popular spot for camping, with lots of picnic sites and BBQ grills lining the shore. Venice Beach is the least crowded of the four and features views of the ocean, Pilarcitos Creek, and Frenchmans Creek. Dunes Beach is the most popular, with numerous hiking trails and a long stretch of sand. Roosevelt Beach is the most rugged and least accessible, although the dramatic views over Pillar Point Harbor make it worth the effort to visit.
