Limekiln State Park Details

In the late 1880s, this area was used by the Rockland Lime and Lumber Company for limestone harvesting. Although operations stopped in 1890, you can still see the four giant lime kilns sitting in the middle of this forested state park. Other highlights of the park include a small beach on the Big Sur coast, a dense grove of redwood forests, and even a 100-foot cascading waterfall (Limekiln Falls). The trail to the falls is currently closed due to fire destruction, although the 1/2 mile trail to the limekilns is still open.
