Farallon Islands National Wildlife Refuge Details

The rocky islands of the Farallon National Wildlife Refuge hold the largest seabird nesting colony south of Alaska, and holds the largest colony of western gulls in the world. Four groups of small islands protect seabirds, fish, and marine mammals like white sharks, hoary bats, northern elephant seals, and Tufted Puffin. The public is not allowed on the refuge because of the sensitive wildlife and the steep, rocky shoreline.
