Point Reyes Lighthouse Details
Built-in 1870, this historic lighthouse is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Marin County. It is situated on Point Reyes inside the Point Reyes National Seashore and overlooks the sparkling blue waters of the Gulf of the Farallones. The lighthouse is open to the public, although it is a little bit of an effort to reach. From the parking lot, you will need to descend 300 steps down a cliff (remember you will need to hike back up once you are done). Although it is a bit of a walk, you will be rewarded with dramatic coastal views of the ocean and, if you are lucky, elephant seals and gray whales.
