Tropical Rainforest Details
The tropical rainforest of the American Samoa is easily one of the finest in the posession of the US. Despite being inhabited for over 3000 years, the rainforests have been kept in nearly pristine condition and are incredibly lush and thick, partially due to the heavy rains that the islands see during the rainy season. Montane, ridge top, mountain-top scrub, and cloud forests are well represented on the Ta'u and Tutuila park segments. The mid-ocean, southern hemisphere location of the American Samoa make for a unique opportunity to sample the ecological wonder of the South Pacific.
