Seacliffs and Waterfalls Details
The south side of Ta'u is a volcanic caldera, which formed steep and cliff-y walls after it collapsed. Laufuti Stream flows between the walls of the cliffs before entering the ocean via a steep fall. This waterfall can be particularly dramatic during the rainy season or after heavy precipitation, but most of the time it is just a trickle. Water moves underground before emerging as perennial spring at the base of the falls, where fresh water meets the incoming salt water.
