Safety
The American Samoa is a fairly safe place for those with average health concerns.
Plan Around Safety
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Safety Details
The main thing to be concerned about when visiting the American Samoa is sun protection. If you plan on spending time on the beach, be sure to wear adequate amounts of sunscreen, bring a hat, and wear protective clothing. Additionally, be aware of the changing tides and the currents of the ocean. Only attempt to swim if you are aware and capable. Also, don't touch the coral! Coral cuts can get infected easily and take a long time to heal. If for some reason you need medical attention, the closest treatment is in Tutuila. Even though there is care available here, it is limited. If you were in need of serious medical care, you would need to be flown to Hawaii, Australia, or New Zealand.
