Getting to American Samoa Details
The park is on a remote island in the South Pacific, so if you're planning a visit, prepare for adequate travel time via airplane. The closest airport is Pago Pago International Airport on Tutuila Island. From America, Hawaiian Airlines is the only major carrier to American Samoa. They currently offer two flights a week from Honolulu, Hawai'i. Car rental agencies are available on the island itself. Visitors also have the option of using one of the Aiga, aka, family buses, which are frequent but unscheduled (remember, you're on island time!) These buses run from 50 cents to $2.00. You'll be driven around Pago Pago Harbor and to the more remote parts of the island. These buses originate and terminate at the Fagatogo market and do not run on Sundays. Just wave to be picked up or dropped off.
