Fishing
Fishing is one of the biggest industries on the island, however, the park itself does not offer fishing rentals or trip opportunities.
Plan Around Fishing
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Fishing Details
Fishing is one of the biggest industries on the island, so you can expect to do and see a lot of it if you're interested. The island itself has two fish processing plants and dozens of commercial boats that anchor in Pago Pago Harbor. The island actually hosts a competition every year, called the Steinlager I'a Lapo'a Tournament, which is quickly becoming a regional draw for anglers from the South Pacific and the United States. There are several international (and national) fishing charters that host trips in American Samoa, but none are operated out of the park itself. You will have to book these trips independently and prior to your visit.
