Blunts Point World War II Cannons Details
A hike out to Blunt's Point gives hikers a glimpse of a rare example of a World War II Pacific Coastal gun, which remains in almost perfect condition. The guns and cannons at Blunts Point were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Blunts Point projects outward on the west side of Pago Pago Harbor. A moderately difficult hike leads visitors to two six inch naval guns, which are mounted at a point of about 200 feet above sea level at the mouth of the harbor. The battery was recently restored and is in good condition.
