West Mountain Summit Drive Details
West Mountain Summit Drive, an offshoot of West Mountain Drive, provides access to the Sunset Trail, which starts on West Mountain. Drivers can begin at the southern entrance, on Prospect Avenue, and head north on West Mountain Drive. About 1/2-mile into the park, the road splits into West Mountain Summit Drive to the left and West Mountain Drive to the right. Visitors who wish to reach the summit of the mountain should veer left onto West Mountain Summit Drive, which also offers access to the West Mountain Trail. Sunset Trail hikers should leave their cars at the parking area in the small loop at the end of West Mountain Summit Drive; West Mountain Trail hikers will find a parking area about another 1/2-mile along the road from where it splits. Drivers who stay on the main portion of West Mountain Drive will continue to circumnavigate the mountain, exiting the park to the north on Whittington Avenue. There's a place to park here for those who wish to hike the Whittington Trail.
