The landmark Levi Hospital on Prospect Avenue was founded in 1914 by the International Order of B'nai B'rith to provide free healthcare services to the poor. Although Jewish in origin (the hospital even maintained a kosher kitchen), Levi Hospital ministered to people of all faiths, providing therapeutic services utilizing the waters from local hot springs as well as other physical and mental health care. The nonprofit hospital still features a 50-by-20-foot pool filled with spring water from Hot Springs National Park.
