West Mountain Drive Details
West Mountain Drive provides the main access to the park's western section, on West Mountain. Drivers can begin at the southern entrance, on Prospect Avenue, and head north on the drive. About 1/2-mile into the park, the road splits into West Mountain Summit Drive to the left and West Mountain Drive to the right. Drivers who stay on the main portion of West Mountain Drive will circumnavigate the mountain, exiting the park to the north on Whittington Avenue. There's a place to park here for those who want to hike the Whittington Trail. Visitors who wish to reach the summit of the mountain should take West Mountain Summit Drive, which also offers access to the Sunset Trail and West Mountain Trails. Sunset Trail hikers should leave their cars at the parking area in the small loop at the end of West Mountain Summit Drive; West Mountain Trail hikers will find a parking area about another 1/2-mile along the road from where it splits.
