Ranger Stations Details

The park's main visitor center is in the Fordyce Bathhouse. It's open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. Self-guided tours are available every day, and guided tours are available if there is enough staff on hand. The bathhouse opened in 1915 and operated until 1962, remaining vacant until it reopened in 1989 as the visitor center. The first-floor lobby features marble and stained-glass transoms, as well as a ceramic fountain. The second floor, originally home of the dressing rooms and men's massage rooms, now features exhibits in one of the dressing rooms. The bathhouse's third floor features the music room, with a patterned-tile floor, stained-glass ceiling and grand piano. Visitors can also watch "Taking the Baths," which explains the traditional bath routine, as well as watch a captioned 15-minute film that tells the story of the hot springs and their use.
