Hot Springs Mountain Trail Details
Hot Springs Mountain Trail, a 1.7-mile loop trail, is one of the park's most popular trails. The trailhead is at the pagoda picnic shelter just below the Hot Springs Mountain Tower. The trail descends through a mixed hardwood and pine forest. The lower slope is steep here, but offers some great vistas. About halfway down, hikers can rest at a trail shelter, located at the Gulpha Gorge Trail intersection. Hikers should continue along the trail and descend the western side of the slope, turning left at the first junction. Those who go straight will end up on Dogwood Trail. Continue on the serpentine path to Hot Springs Mountain Drive, and hike up the western slope of Hot Springs Mountain after crossing the road. At the junction with Honeysuckle Trail, hikers should stay left to complete the loop. You'll cross Hot Springs Mountain Drive two more times before arriving back at the picnic area.
