Hiking Details
There are 26 miles of trails within Hot Springs National Park. Most of the 23 trails are under four miles roundtrip, with the exception of the 10-mile (one-way) Sunset Trail, which passes through the park's highest elevation at 1,405 feet. Most of the trails were built during the 1920s, with some improvements completed in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Trail terrain varies from hilly climbs to scenic walks through mixed hardwood and pine forests, as well as urban trails such as the half-mile Grand Promenade, which offers views of historic downtown Hot Springs. All trails are day-use; there's no overnight camping in the park except at Gulpha Gorge Campground.
