Plan Around Hiking
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Hiking Details
Set off on a few short day hikes and experience the best of the park. There are many day hikes to consider, ranging from 2 to 5.6 miles. Backcountry hikes include rugged trails in the park's Saguaro Wilderness Area, ranging from easy to difficult. Many of the latter trails intersect, offering the option of combining them for longer hikes. Note that three of the backcountry trailheads are on U.S. Forest Service land. Whichever hike you set out on, be sure to take water with you. Park rangers suggest drinking one quart of water per hour of hiking in the summertime, and at least one gallon of water per person, per day.
