The cacti are found only in a small portion of the country. **When was Saguaro National Park established?** Saguaro National Monument was established by President Herbert Hoover in 1933, then redesignated as Saguaro National Park by Congress in 1994. **Why is the park split into two districts?** Saguaro National park is split into two districts by the city of Tucson. **What other points of interest can be found within the park?** A: Of particular note are the petroglyphs, or rock art, that date back hundreds, and perhaps even thousands, of years. The easiest place to see petroglyphs is on the Signal Hill Trail found in the Tucson Mountain District in the west; dozens of 800-year-old petroglyphs can be found here.
