Widforss Trail Details
Appropriately named for Gunnar Widforss, a landscape painter who drew a good deal of his inspiration from the Canyon, this scenic trail contains some of the most unique views on the North Rim. The well-traveled trail follows the Transept for nearly 3 miles over moderately graded terrain, and contains the best views along the trail. Some deeper sections of the Canyon are visible from this area, and it's easy to see why Widforss found the array of ridges and buttes so inspiring. Widforss Point is the technical terminus of this trail, but a slightly closer main viewpoint usually signifies the turn-around point. No water available.
