Ken Patrick Trail Details
This trail memorializes the service of Ken Patrick, a park ranger killed by poachers while on duty in the 1970s. Following the eastern side of Walhalla Plateau, this seldom-traveled trail offers the cool shade of lush conifers and great views over Nankoweap Creek Canyon before reaching its piece de resistance, Point Imperial. The Point is the highest point on either rim, reaching 8,803 feet from the Canyon bottom, and permitting some of the park's most spectacular panoramas. The trail is often shortened for an easier hike, as its further reaches become progressively more difficult to follow. Water is not readily accessible.
