Maricopa Point Details

Maricopa Point offers 180-degree views of the Grand Canyon, including such sights as Dana Butte, the end of Bright Angel Creek, and part of the Bright Angel Trail as it runs alongside Garden Creek. Close to Maricopa Point are the remains of Orphan Mine, a former copper, silver, and uranium mine that operated as late as 1969. A winch engine and several buildings are still visible on the canyon rim, along with piles of mine waste that may contain traces of radiation.
