Heat Exhaustion Details

Mainly the result of dehydration, heat exhaustion is one of the most frequently reported illnesses in Grand Canyon National Park. Hikers can lose up to two quarts of water an hour in the summer. Symptoms include a pale pallor, nausea, cool skin, and headaches. Those affected should drink water with electrolytes, eat fatty or sugary foods, and remain in shaded areas until symptoms disappear.
