Piestewa Peak Summit Trail Details
If you are looking for a fun but challenging trek with breathtaking views, then look no further than this 1.2-mile hike. Piestewa Peak is the second-highest mountain in Phoenix, standing at 2,608-feet above sea level. While you won't have to climb that entire distance, you will need to make the steep ascent up 1,200-feet to the summit. The trail is steep right out of the gate, with carved concrete stairs leading right up the side of the mountain. It eventually flattens out for a few yards, so you can catch your breath and soak in the views of the other mountains in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve. Don't get too comfortable because the last stretch to the peak is also up a set of stairs. At the top, enjoy the views of the rolling peaks before you have to turn back and climb down.
