Hidden Valley Trail Details

The name of this trail says it all. The only way to reach this elusive hike on South Mountain is by taking another steep path the Mormon Trail. From there, you will see a sign for this 3.6-mile loop. You will start by walking under the oddly-shaped boulders of the Hidden Valley Tunnel before exiting into a clearing with valley views. The path continues up the rock (be prepared to do some scrambling) and into Fat Man's Pass. See if you can squeeze through the narrow opening that sits in between those two massive boulders. On your walk back, pay attention to the petroglyphs painted on the rocks. Although many of them have washed away, you can still see tracings left behind by the native Hohokam tribe.
