Tours Details

Guided park tours are available from park rangers, local guiding companies and nonprofit groups. Wrangell-St. Elias rangers run guided tours in the summer (mid-May to mid-September) that vary from free interpretive talks to guided walks to evening programs. The tour schedule varies depending on the week, but generally hosts guided walks throughout the day and either an evening program or campfire program to end the day. Check with any of the visitor centers for the most up to date information. Local guiding company St. Elias Alpine Guides runs daily tours in the summer of the Kennecott Mill. This is the only way to tour the mill, it typically takes two hours and costs $25 per person. Two nonprofit groups in the area also run tours. Wrangell Mountains Center and Wrangell Institute for Science and Environment run tours in the Copper River Basin. Tour schedules and availability change by the season, but updated information is available is available at the park's visitor centers.
