Tonsina River Trail Details
Start the Tonsina River Trail at a paved turnout at mile 12.3 of the Edgerton Highway, east of Kenny Lake. Follow the trail as it descends through spruce into an open meadow. Continue among willows and wildflowers to a marshy area before turning west along a bluff with views out over the Tonsina River. At the end of the trail there is a flat, grassy area and beautiful overlook. Once you've soaked in the views, turn around and retrace your steps for a 4 mile roundtrip walk. This area can be buggy; don't forget insect repellent. This trail is maintained by the Bureau of Land Management. It goes through private property so stay on the trail at all times.
