Donoho Basin Group Camping Details
This backcountry camping area can hold small groups and individuals. There are no amenities other than one large bear locker, though the NPS recommends still using bear canisters in case there is limited space in the locker. There are two lakes nearby that water can be treated from, or visitors need to bring their own drinking water. Visitors will need to hike past the Root Glacier which requires crampons (but not typically ice axes). For groups smaller than eight hikers, registration is not required. If you will be staying at Donoho with a group of eight or more, registration is required in advance which can be done by calling (907)-822-5234.
