Plan Around Camping
A good stop is not just something to read about. Once it belongs on the day, move into a saved trip and build the route around it.
Use this detail page to confirm that the stop is worth it, then carry that decision into a trip draft while the park context is still fresh.
Camping Details
There is only one campground maintained by the NPS, but several other established sites exist. The park's only maintained campground is Kendesnii Campground located at milepost 27.8 on Nabesna Road. This is still a basic campground with 10 sites (each with a picnic table and fire ring) and two vault toilets. There is no potable water, campers must bring their own. The campground is free, open year-round, and does not take reservations. Outside of the only established park campground there are private campgrounds in McCarthy and in the western Copper Center area. There are also primitive campsites along McCarthy Road and Nabesna Road, these are unmaintained sites without potable water. Keep in mind that there are no fuel services in the park so visitors are encouraged to top off in Slana or Glennallen before driving in the park to camp.
