Top Events Details
Kenai Fjords National Park's top events are the summer's Midnight Sun and the winter's Northern Lights. Many visitors come north to Alaska to experience the long days of summer; although the sun does not stay above the horizon for 24 hours, as commonly believed, it does not dip far below -- giving even the "night" hours a feel of twilight. Visitors wanting the most sunlight during their visit should aim for the summer solstice, in late June. In winter, many plan their trip to Alaska to witness the aurora borealis, Northern Lights. Long hours of darkness and minimal amount of light pollution in south-central Alaska make Kenai Fjords National Park and the nearby town of Seward ideal places to see this spectacular light show. The Northern Lights also can be seen in the spring and fall.
