Northwestern Glacier Details
At the very end of Harris Bay, Northwestern Glacier is a tidewater glacier that flows into Northwestern Fjord. There is a small gravel beach that serves as a popular drop-off and pick-up point for kayak parties who are heading to the fjord. This beach is suitable for camping, but please don't spend more than one night here so others can use the beach. A food locker is located near the edge of the trees. Be aware that the beach can sometimes be closed to protect nesting seabirds. Several other beaches nearby are fine for camping, but watch for strong tidal currents when crossing the submerged moraine at the mouth of the fjord. The longer beach outside the moraine can have hazardous surf, and is not recommended for camping.
