Hiking Details

The only maintained hiking trails in the park are located on or around Exit Glacier. There are several short trails to Glacier View, Toe of the Glacier, and Edge of the Glacier. The longer, and quite strenuous, Harding Icefield Trail is a full-day excursion, or even a multi-day trip if you would like to split the 8.2-mile trek into two days. Off-trail hiking in the park is not recommended due to the rugged terrain and extremely dense vegetation. If you're determined to hike off trail, consider hiring a local guide who knows the area well. When heading out for a hike, inquire about trail conditions, bring plenty of food, water, and rain gear, and be prepared to hike in bear country.
