Exit Glacier Details
The Exit Glacier area is the only part of the park accessible by car and has a visitor center, nature center, and campground -- not to mention the mighty glacier itself. Exit Glacier is open year-round, but the road leading up to it is closed during the winter once snow starts falling. Exit Glacier offers visitors the opportunity to witness the power and magnitude of glaciers and to see first-hand how glaciers re-shape a landscape. As one of 32 glaciers born from the Harding Icefield, Exit Glacier was the glacier used to exit the Harding Icefield on the first crossing of the icefield. Visitors to Exit Glacier can take one of several trails to see the glacier, some getting close enough that you can peer into deep blue glacial crevasses or high enough to see the glacier peel away from the larger icefield.
