Take the accessible Glacier View Trail from the Exit Glacier Nature Center, then turn off at the trail-side kiosk to head towards the toe, or terminus, of the glacier. Reaching the toe of the glacier involves crosses the glacier's rocky outwash plain, which can be impassible during times of flooding. There is no set trail across the plain, but if water levels are low enough you can pick your way across the outwash plain to the toe of the glacier. Do not approach the glacier in places where the ice is taller than you are - huge chunks can fall without warning. The trail to the glacier's toe is one mile in length.
