Naknek Lake Details

Naknek Lake is more than 150,000 acres, making it the largest lake contained within any national park in the United States. It is accessible by vehicle, with a drive-up boat launch and parking lot at Lake Camp on the lake's western shore. You can drive here from the towns of King Salmon or Naknek (if you plan to leave your car here for more than 72 hours, you must alert the superintendent and get permission). From the boat launch you can access Lake Naknek's Northern Arm, the Bay of Islands and southeastern Illiuk Arm. You can also access Brooks Camp, Fure's Cabin, and the Savonoski Loop. Watching the Alaskan sun rise and set over the expanse of Naknek Lake is a special experience, whether you are watching from your lakeside backcountry campsite, from your boat, or from Brooks Camp.
