Lower River Platform Details
The Lower River Platform is located downstream of the falls, near Naknek Lake. It is popular especially during late summer and early fall when the salmon have finished spawning and begin to die. Bears feed on the dead or dying salmon as they drift downstream. With no time limit on this platform, you can watch the bears as long as you please. This platform is accessible with ramp access. In certain conditions, such as when trails are muddy or in case of a bear encounter, assistance might be required.
