This short spur trail close to the Savage Alpine trailhead runs mostly along the river to the Savage Cabin, built in 1924 as the cook's cabin for Savage Camp, Denali's first tourist camp. There are interpretive panels along the 0.8-mile gravel trail that discuss this and other local history; you may also run into groups taking the Denali Natural History Tour, which includes a hike on this trail.
